Harefield Amateur Dramatic Society (HADS) is the local amateur dramatics group for the village of Harefield, nestled between Rickmansworth and Uxbridge in West London. What started as a small gathering of theatre enthusiasts, brought together by Francis James and Leslie Baxter in 1951, has grown into a thriving and well-respected dramatic society.
We stage two major productions each year, along with a summer show, Christmas party, and various side projects. Our members come from Harefield and the surrounding areas, spanning all ages and backgrounds. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, we take pride in delivering high-quality performances, sets, and effects—earning us several awards along the way.
At HADS, we believe in creating a fun, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere. We know that amateur theatre requires a huge commitment of time and effort, so we ensure our rehearsals are as enjoyable as they are productive. And, of course, no drama group would be complete without a little backstage drama of its own—but that’s all part of the fun!
We are proud members of NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) and are supported by the Hillingdon Arts Association (HAA).
Our performances have been staged at various venues over the years, and we are now based at St Mary’s Church Hall, High Street, Harefield, UB9 6BX, where we meet every Tuesday at 8 pm. If you’d like to get involved—whether on stage or off—we’d love to hear from you!
