  1. 2. MINUTES of the Quarterly General Meeting held in October 2014 were read and approved.
Chairman’s Report. Cllr. Michael Markham said that we do have a very vibrant Arts
Community in the Borough and that he would like to get around to visiting as many of the groups as
possible. One of the objects of this Association is to encourage the development of the Arts, and one
of the things we have decided to do is to financially support a few particular projects
2.1. A recent one was the wall hanging project that the Uxbridge Community Centre had initiated. A
Group of people got together with Jenny Thorne and made a series of small squares of
needlework depicting various aspects of the history of the area. These have been stitched
together, padded and backed and made into a wall hanging that can be displayed at various places
in the Borough. At present it can be seen in the Community Centre.
2.2. Another project we will be supporting is the Hillingdon Philharmonic Orchestra and the
Hillingdon Choral Society getting together to put on a Gala Evening at Brunel University as part
of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the Borough of Hillingdon and of
    the Hillingdon Arts Association.
2.3. You will also be aware of the booklet “Sculptural Hillingdon” which has been incredibly well
received. If you cannot get hold of a copy – details are on the website. We are already starting to
put together the items for a second edition which hopefully will include some more works and the
addition of extra details about the items in the first edition. A new piece of sculpture was
unveiled only last week at Ruislip Lido. Anyone with new information should get in touch with

either the Secretary who is collating the info, or one of the trustees. We hope to be able to go to
    press early in 2016.
  2. Financial Report. Current Account Balance is £7,997. Deposit Account balance is £10,100. It
should be pointed out that not all the above amounts are available for projects. Some has been
promised, other has been ring fenced for various items such as those mentioned above. Plus money
has to be set aside for running expenses and regular payments and commitments.
  3. Secretary’s and Membership Secretary’s report. Your Executive Committee have decided to
simplify the various types of Membership. Basically there will be just two types – Society
    Membership and Individual Membership.
4.1. For the financial year starting on 1st April 2015 the Committee have set the membership fees as
£10 for societies, and £7 for individuals. Also for this coming year (15/16) and for the future the
Treasurer has agreed to take over the sending out of requests for payment (invoices and/or
    statements), and for receiving payments.
4.2. The committee are anxious to increase membership to include the many societies and groups that
exist in the Borough and who will benefit enormously from being a member. This includes
Educational establishments as well as commercial companies that have Art as part of their
organisation. And the more members we have the more the benefit to all.
4.3. Michael has edited the “Benefits of Membership” leaflet, which is available in a printed form as
    well as on our website.
  4. 6. 7. 4.4. What’s On Spring edition covering March, April, and May was presented to the meeting with
copies being made available for distribution. To have your ‘event’ listed in the Summer edition
covering June, July and August, members were reminded that the deadline will be 11th May.
Awards Officer’s Report. So far no nominations have been received. We do want them by 31st
March if possible. This year we will include not only amateurs but professional people who have
made a valuable contribution to the Art scene in Hillingdon. Not only for those who have worked for
many years voluntarily, but for those younger newcomers as well
5.1. 50th Anniversary Celebrations. The Council are relying on the local libraries to put on
something, so if your society was established on or before 1965 please get in touch with your
    local library.
An Opportunity was given to all those societies represented to-day to talk about their plans, future
events, any problems they have, etc.
The General and Annual General Meeting of the Association will take place on Monday, 6th July
2015 in Committee Room 6 of the Civic Centre Uxbridge.
7.1. A General Meeting will be held on October 5th
